Match Rules

  1. Kick off
    The game will be started or restarted by means of a kick off and the ball may be played in any direction.
  2. Goalkeeper
    After holding the ball the goalkeeper must return the ball to play by rolling it out of the area with an under-arm action.
    Penalty for infringement: Indirect free kick at the nearest point outside the circle to the place where the offence occurred.
  3. Goal area
    Only the defending goalkeeper is allowed inside the goal area and may handle the ball inside the area. The goalkeeper must remain in the area at all times.
    Penalty for infringement:
    a) By the defence: A penalty kick.
    b) By the attack: A free kick at the point of entry of the player into the area.
    c) By the goalkeeper INTENTIONALLY leaving the area: A penalty kick.
  4. Ball out of play
    If the ball passes out of play, it will be returned to play by the opposing team for throw ins and corners by rolling the ball with an under-arm action. Goal kicks will be replaced by the ball being returned to the goalkeeper in the goal area.
  5. Height
    The ball must be kept below the head height of the referee at all times.
    Penalty for infringement:
    a) By the goalkeeper when rolling into play: An indirect free kick at the point the ball left the area.
    b) By a rebound off the goalkeeper e.g. during a save: A corner roll in.
    c) By any other player: An indirect free kick at the point the infringement occurred.
  6. Offside
    There is no offside rule. Players may place themselves in any part of the pitch notwithstanding Rule 3.
  7. Bodily contact
    Intentional bodily contact, charging and sliding tackles are not allowed.
    Penalty for infringement: Direct free kick from point the incident occurred.
  8. Free kicks
    When a direct or indirect free kick is being taken, opposing players must not encroach within 2 metres of the ball.
  9. Generally
    All other laws unless specifically noted above will be in accordance with the laws for Association Football as interpreted by the match referee. The referee is in sole charge of the game. His/her decisions and implementation of the above rules and laws are not subject to challenge at any time. Game results will always stand on the referee.
